Looking for a man with a van in Tooting? London Moverz charges £50/hr for 1 man and van and £65/hr for 2 men and van, minimum 2 hours. Tooting SW17 is well outside the Congestion Charge zone. We know which SW17 streets take a Luton and which do not — the Totterdown Fields cottages and the Heaver Estate are very different jobs — and we work around St George's shift patterns. Fully insured, 7 days a week.
Local Experts Since 2015
London Moverz has been serving Tooting and South London since 2015. Based in Chiswick W4, we reach Tooting SW17 via Putney Bridge and the A217, or through Wandsworth — typically a 30 to 35 minute journey. Over nearly a decade we have built strong experience across Tooting: from the dense streets of Victorian terraces around Tooting Broadway station, to the spacious Edwardian houses near Tooting Bec Common, to the vibrant restaurant and market streets of Upper Tooting Road.
Knowing the Broadway parking enforcement windows, when Saturday market crowds make access difficult and which streets near the Common need a Wandsworth Council suspension means Tooting moves run to plan, not to improvisation.
Tooting SW17 divides naturally around its two Northern line stations. The Tooting Broadway area — centred on the junction of Tooting High Street and Upper Tooting Road — is the commercial and social heart of the neighbourhood.
The vast majority of Tooting SW17's residential housing stock is Victorian terraced — built between roughly 1880 and 1910 to house the workers and lower-middle classes who followed the new tram routes south from the Thames.
Tooting's extraordinary restaurant scene — Sri Lankan, Indian, Pakistani, West African, Turkish and more, clustered particularly along Upper Tooting Road and around the market — means the area attracts significant visitors at weekends.

Common Questions
Yes, the residential streets around Tooting Bec Lido and Common are within our service area. Parking near the Lido is generally manageable on the surrounding residential streets. The main Tooting Bec Road has some restrictions but the streets running off it towards the Common are more accessible, particularly in the morning.
Yes, we cover all of Tooting SW17 including both the Tooting Broadway and Tooting Bec areas, plus the borders with Balham SW12, Streatham SW16 and Mitcham CR4. All SW17 postcodes are within our standard service zone at our usual rates.
Tooting High Street and the Upper Tooting Road have active enforcement and limited stopping zones. For moves near these main roads, we schedule loading during off-peak hours and use the side streets for van access where possible. For properties directly on the High Street, a Wandsworth bay suspension is usually worth having. Wandsworth needs a minimum of five clear working days' notice, and the day you apply does not count toward it. The cost is £43.40 for the first day plus a non-refundable booking fee of £82.20 at 10 working days' notice, or £93.20 at 7 — so applying later costs more, not less. You apply as the occupier, since Wandsworth issues it against your address and vehicle registration.
Yes, the Victorian terraced houses that make up most of Tooting housing stock are among our most common moves. These properties typically have narrow hallways and steep staircases — our team brings specialist equipment including furniture straps, blankets and corner protectors to get large items through these access points safely.
Yes, moves between Tooting and nearby Balham SW12, Clapham SW4 and Wandsworth SW18 are very common for us. The short distances involved mean these moves typically complete in 2-3 hours, keeping costs to the minimum 2-hour booking or just above.
Tooting SW17 is inside the expanded ULEZ zone (since August 2023), but our van is fully ULEZ-compliant — no ULEZ surcharge is passed on to you. Tooting is well outside the London Congestion Charge zone. Moves within Tooting and to surrounding areas like Balham, Earlsfield, Wandsworth and Clapham will not incur any charge. If your move enters the zone — Westminster, the West End, the City, or Southwark and Elephant and Castle — the charge is £18 per day as of 2 January 2026, and it now runs at weekends too: 07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday, 12:00–18:00 Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. Chelsea and Kensington are outside the zone despite feeling central. It is passed on at cost with no markup, and the vast majority of Tooting moves involve no charge at all.
Early morning is strongly recommended for moves near Tooting Broadway and the High Street area. The restaurant and market scene draws significant crowds from Saturday lunchtime onwards, making parking very competitive and roads busier. On Saturdays, aim to be loading by 8am and clear of the Broadway by 10am. On weekdays, the area is much calmer and moves can start at any time from 7am. We will advise on the best strategy for your specific address when you book.
Yes — the residential properties above and around the Upper Tooting Road restaurant strip are all within our service area. This part of SW17 has a wonderfully diverse character and a tight-knit community. Parking on Upper Tooting Road itself is restricted during business hours, but the residential streets running east and west off it are accessible with good kerb space. We assess parking for every address in this area individually when you book.
Yes — the streets around Tooting Bec Common, particularly Thrale Road, Weir Road and Cavendish Road, have some of the most spacious Victorian and Edwardian properties in SW17. These are typically larger family moves with more furniture volume than the denser streets around Broadway. Good news on the access side though — the roads near the Common are wider, parking is more accessible and the properties themselves tend to have better hallway and staircase dimensions than the compact Broadway terraces. We always love working in this part of Tooting.

We do both, with the same team. A man and van in Tooting is the right choice for a studio, a single room, a few items of furniture or a part-load — one man and a van at £50/hr, or two men at £65/hr, minimum two hours. Full house removals Tooting SW17 is the same service scaled up: two men, a full pack-and-load, furniture dismantling and reassembly, and protection for floors and doorways. Most Victorian terraces and converted flats around Tooting Bec and Broadway need the two-man option once you are past a one-bedroom flat, simply because of stair carries and the size of the furniture. We do not subcontract either service — the people who quote your Tooting removal are the people who turn up. If you are not sure which you need, send a photo or a room list and we will tell you honestly, including if the smaller option is enough. Parking suspensions in Tooting go through Wandsworth Council, and we will tell you exactly what to apply for.

About Our Service
London Moverz has been serving Tooting and South London since 2015. Based in Chiswick W4, we reach Tooting SW17 via Putney Bridge and the A217, or through Wandsworth — typically a 30 to 35 minute journey. Over nearly a decade we have built strong experience across Tooting: from the dense streets of Victorian terraces around Tooting Broadway station, to the larger houses near Tooting Bec Common, to the diverse and vibrant streets around the market and Upper Tooting Road. Tooting is one of South London's most exciting and fastest-evolving areas — and one we know well.
Tooting SW17 divides naturally around its two Northern line stations. The Tooting Broadway area — centred on the junction of Tooting High Street and Upper Tooting Road — is the commercial and social heart of the neighbourhood. Tooting Market, one of London's oldest and most characterful indoor markets, sits here alongside the famous restaurants and street food scene that have made Tooting a destination across London. The residential streets around Tooting Broadway station — Franciscan Road, Longmead Road, Selkirk Road — are compact Victorian terraces with the typical access challenges of the period: narrow hallways, steep stairs and competitive on-street parking at month end.
The Tooting Bec area, to the north towards Balham, has a slightly different character. The streets around Tooting Bec Common — Thrale Road, Weir Road, Cavendish Road — tend to have larger Victorian and Edwardian properties, some semi-detached, with more generous room sizes and better parking availability than the denser streets around Broadway. The Common itself is a wonderful asset that draws families to the area, and the Lido on its eastern edge is one of London's great outdoor swimming spots. The streets adjacent to the Common are particularly sought-after and moves here tend to be larger family relocations with significant furniture volumes.
The vast majority of Tooting SW17's residential housing stock is Victorian terraced — built between roughly 1880 and 1910 to house the workers and lower-middle classes who followed the new tram routes south from the Thames. These houses are characterful and practical, but they present consistent challenges for removals: narrow front paths, steep entrance steps, tight hallways, and steep staircases with a tricky turn at the top landing. Our team is very experienced with Tooting terraces and brings the right equipment every time — furniture sliders, shoulder straps, stair-climbing dollies and full blanket wrapping. We always ask about access when you book and send an appropriately sized team for the property type.
Tooting's extraordinary restaurant scene — Sri Lankan, Indian, Pakistani, West African, Turkish and more, clustered particularly along Upper Tooting Road and around the market — means the area attracts significant visitors at weekends. Saturday afternoons can be very busy around the Broadway and High Street, with pedestrian traffic spilling onto the road and parking becoming extremely competitive. For moves in the Broadway area, we strongly recommend early morning Saturday starts — before 9am — to get clear of the area before the lunchtime influx. On weekdays, Tooting is much calmer and moves proceed more smoothly throughout the day.
Tooting SW17 falls within the expanded Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), which has covered all London boroughs since August 2023. Our van is fully ULEZ-compliant — there is no ULEZ surcharge passed on to you. Tooting is well outside the London Congestion Charge zone. Moves within Tooting and to surrounding areas — Balham, Earlsfield, Wandsworth, Clapham, Streatham — will not incur any congestion charge. If your move does enter the Congestion Charge zone — Westminster, the West End, the City, Bloomsbury or Elephant and Castle — the charge is £18 per day as of 2 January 2026, its first rise since 2020. It now applies at weekends as well (07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday, 12:00–18:00 Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays), and is billed per calendar day, so a job past midnight counts twice. Worth being precise about the zone: it crosses the river to take in Southwark and Elephant and Castle, but Chelsea and Kensington are outside it — the Western Extension covering them was scrapped in 2011. We pass it on at cost with no markup, and the vast majority of Tooting moves are entirely charge-free.
Tooting SW17 falls under Wandsworth Council, which requires a minimum of five clear working days' notice for parking bay suspensions. There is a detail in their terms that catches people out: the day you submit does not count toward the notice period at all, whatever time you send it, and weekends and bank holidays are not notification days either. Apply on a Thursday and your earliest realistic start is the Friday of the following week.
Wandsworth splits the cost into a bay charge and a non-refundable booking fee, and the booking fee is the larger half. A domestic bay suspension is £43.40 for the first day and £35.20 for each consecutive day after. The booking fee is £82.20 with 10 working days' notice, or £93.20 with 7 — so leaving it later costs £11 more, not less. One bay for one day comes to about £125.60 if you plan ahead. A bay is 5 metres, so a long-wheelbase van generally needs two, and the number you book for the first day has to stay the same for every consecutive day. Where a street has no bays outside the door, Wandsworth will consider a yellow line waiver at £65.10 per 5-metre space per day. Changing or cancelling costs £63.90 in admin plus £13.60 for signage, so book the duration you actually need first time.
For most Tooting streets, particularly around the Commons and the quieter roads off Church Lane, none of this is needed. Where it is, the application is made by you as the occupier rather than by us — Wandsworth issues it against the property address and vehicle registration, so it has to come from the resident. Send us the reg and we will make sure the correct van is named on it.
Most of London moves at the end of the month. Tooting has a second peak that nowhere else we cover shares, and it is driven by St George's. The hospital is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the country and sits with its medical school in the middle of SW17, and UK medical training runs to a fixed calendar: foundation doctors and trainees rotate on the first Wednesday of August, with further changeovers in December, February and April. In 2026 that first Wednesday is 5 August.
For a removals company that is not trivia, it is a demand curve. The fortnight either side of the August changeover produces a concentrated wave of moves in and out of Tooting — doctors arriving for a new rotation, others leaving at the end of one, often into or out of shared houses and one-bedroom flats, frequently at short notice because posts are confirmed late. Our SW17 diary for late July and the first half of August books up well before month-end demand elsewhere does. If you are rotating in or out, book earlier than you think you need to, and tell us your start date rather than just a preferred day — we can usually work around a shift, but not around a full diary.
Day to day, the hospital also shapes what times work. Shift changeovers put a lot of people on Blackshaw Road and the streets around the hospital at the start and end of the standard patterns, and those streets are heavily parked by staff throughout. If your address is in that immediate grid, an early start matters more than a permit does. We run 7am to 9pm seven days a week, so a load at two in the afternoon off a night shift, or a 7am start before a long day, is an ordinary booking here rather than a special request.
Tooting is described everywhere as "Victorian terraces," which is true and useless. Two conservation areas within a mile of each other produce completely different jobs. Totterdown Fields, off Garratt Lane, was the London County Council's first cottage estate, built from 1903 — small two-storey cottages on narrow streets, laid out for families on modest incomes before anyone owned a car. The rooms are compact, the staircases are narrow with a turn, the front gardens are short, and there is essentially no off-street parking anywhere in it. For a Totterdown Fields move the constraint is the street before it is the house: we need to know how close we can legally get, because the carry is often longer than the load.
The Heaver Estate, on the other side of the Broadway towards Tooting Bec Common, is the opposite end of the same century — large late-Victorian villas built for a wealthier market, with wide frontages, generous hallways, bay windows and proper staircases. Access is good, but the volume is much higher and the contents are usually more substantial. These are full-day jobs, quoted as such, and they are where pianos turn up in SW17.
Between the two sits the bulk of Tooting's stock: standard two-up two-down terraces off Mitcham Road, Church Lane and Franciscan Road, many of them converted into upper and lower flats. The recurring problem in the conversions is the shared hallway — a single front door serving two flats, with the upstairs staircase starting immediately inside it, which means a wardrobe has to turn twice within a couple of metres. If yours is a converted upper flat, send a photograph of the hallway and the stair when you book. On a Tooting conversion that photograph changes the estimate more than the number of bedrooms does.
Tooting has grown into one of South London's most sought-after areas, and the demand for quality removal services has grown with it. Since 2015 we have built a reputation in SW17 for punctuality, care and honest pricing. Owner-operated, fully insured, 7 days a week from 7AM to 9PM. Whether you need a full house removal, a man and van for a flat move, or an office relocation, we cover all SW17 postcodes.
We regularly serve all surrounding areas including Clapham SW4, Wandsworth SW18, Earlsfield SW18, Putney SW15 and Battersea SW11.
