What Our Customers Say
Trusted by hundreds of London customers since 2015
"I truly recommend Ali and his partner. They moved all my belongings including dissembly and re assembly of my bed frame. They carried the boxes as if they weighed nothing and were super speedy. Both are very honest and hard working, and made my move very smooth!"
"Ali and his team were incredible - super professional, efficient and took great care of my items. Helped manoeuvre my large items through narrow spaces and doorways perfectly (and very surprisingly made a number of the items fit despite my doubts!). I’m hugely grateful to Ali - they really took away the stress of moving"
"Excellent service from start to finish. He’s always available, goes out of his way to help, and is genuinely such a nice person to deal with. Nothing is ever too much trouble, there’s absolutely no pressure, and he’s always there when you need him. Reliable, profession and makes the whole process stress free, highly recommend."
Common Questions
Yes, we can provide Certificate of Insurance documentation required by many Kensington and Chelsea property management companies and luxury apartment buildings. If your building requires specific insurance documentation, let us know when you book and we will arrange this in advance of your move date.
Yes, the stucco-fronted townhouses on Kensington garden squares and private roads are a regular part of our work. These properties often contain valuable furniture and art that require specialist handling. We use high-quality blankets, wrapping materials and strapping as standard, and can provide dedicated protection for particularly valuable items.
Yes, Kensington has some of the most restricted parking in London. Most of W8 is within Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) controlled parking zones. Worth knowing before you spend: RBKC's published guidance says you do not have to suspend a bay for a domestic removal — you may use any bay or a single yellow line provided loading stays continuous and you cause no obstruction. A suspension buys certainty rather than permission. If you do want one, RBKC needs a minimum of 10 full working days' notice for a resident bay, or 2 working days for a pay-by-phone bay, at £82 per space per day. Applications must be in before 3pm to count for that day. You apply as the occupier, since RBKC issues it against your address and vehicle registration — send us the reg and we will make sure the right van is named.
Yes, our Kensington service covers all surrounding premium postcodes including Earl's Court SW5, Holland Park W11, South Kensington SW7 and Notting Hill W11. We handle moves across all these prestigious areas with the same level of care and professionalism.
Yes, we understand that some clients in Kensington require discretion and professionalism beyond the standard removal service. Our team operates quietly and efficiently, without unnecessary activity outside the property. We do not discuss client moves with third parties and take confidentiality seriously.
Kensington W8 is inside the expanded ULEZ zone (since 2021), but our van is fully ULEZ-compliant — no ULEZ surcharge is passed on to you. Kensington W8 is outside the London Congestion Charge zone. The zone's western edge is Park Lane and Edgware Road — not Earl's Court Road — so Kensington, Notting Hill, Chelsea and South Kensington are all outside it — a move between any of them carries no charge. Where it does apply, in Mayfair, Westminster, the City or Bloomsbury, the charge is £18 per day as of 2 January 2026 and now runs at weekends too (07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday, 12:00–18:00 Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays). We pass it on at cost with no markup.
Yes — Edwardes Square, Pemberton Gardens and the other private garden squares in Kensington W8 have specific rules about vehicle access, working hours and gate access that vary by square. We are familiar with several of these squares and will always confirm the specific requirements for your address before move day. Please mention the garden square when booking so we can prepare accordingly.
Yes — grand piano moves from Kensington townhouses are among the most technically demanding jobs we carry out. These instruments are extremely heavy, irreplaceable and sensitive to damage, and the wide staircases of Kensington townhouses — while more generous than Victorian terraces — still require careful planning and the right equipment. We carry dedicated piano boards, straps and protection as standard and always send a minimum of two experienced movers for piano jobs. Please mention your piano at the time of booking.
We recommend booking at least two to three weeks in advance for Kensington moves — ideally more. This allows time to arrange the RBKC parking suspension (minimum 10 full working days), coordinate with building management for lift access and COI documentation, and ensure the right team and equipment are allocated for your move. Weekend and end-of-month slots fill particularly quickly in this area. That said, we do our best to accommodate shorter notice — call us and we will tell you honestly what we can do.

Yes. London Moverz carries £2 million public liability cover and £25,000 goods in transit insurance. Every move in Kensington and across London is covered from the moment we start loading until the last item is placed at your new address. Certificate of Insurance documentation is available for buildings that require it — just tell us when you book.

We do both, with the same team. A man and van in Kensington is the right choice for a studio, a single room, a few items of furniture or a part-load — one man and a van at £50/hr, or two men at £65/hr, minimum two hours. Full house removals Kensington W8 is the same service scaled up: two men, a full pack-and-load, furniture dismantling and reassembly, and protection for floors and doorways. Most stucco townhouses, mansion blocks and garden-square flats need the two-man option once you are past a one-bedroom flat, simply because of stair carries and the size of the furniture. We do not subcontract either service — the people who quote your Kensington removal are the people who turn up. If you are not sure which you need, send a photo or a room list and we will tell you honestly, including if the smaller option is enough. Parking suspensions in Kensington go through Kensington & Chelsea Council, and we will tell you exactly what to apply for.

About Our Service
London Moverz has been serving Kensington and the Royal Borough since 2015. Based in Chiswick W4, we reach Kensington W8 via the A4 and Hammersmith — typically a 20 to 30 minute journey depending on traffic. Over nearly a decade we have built experience across Kensington's most demanding property types: the grand stucco townhouses on Phillimore Gardens and Campden Hill Road, the mansion conversions on Lexham Gardens and Cromwell Road, the private garden square properties of Edwardes Square and Pemberton Gardens, and the high-specification apartment buildings along Kensington High Street. Kensington is the most demanding area we serve — and we meet that standard every time.
Kensington W8 contains some of the most architecturally significant and financially valuable residential property in the world. The grand Victorian terraced townhouses on Phillimore Gardens, Stafford Terrace and the streets around Holland Park are typically five or six storeys — wide staircases, high ceilings, elegant proportions and contents that routinely include antique furniture, oil paintings, sculpture and grand pianos. These moves require exceptional care, methodical planning and the full 2 men + van service as a minimum. We use premium quality moving blankets, specialist artwork protection and dedicated piano equipment on all Kensington townhouse jobs.
The mansion block conversions that line Cromwell Road, Lexham Gardens and the streets south of Kensington High Street are a different challenge — large, elegant flats with the added complexity of lift access, communal stairwells and the need for pre-booking and formal coordination with freeholder or building management companies. Many of these buildings in the Royal Borough require COI (Certificate of Insurance) documentation before they will permit a removal company on-site. We provide this as standard — just let us know when you book and we will arrange the paperwork in time. The private garden squares — Edwardes Square, Pemberton Gardens, Kynance Place — are particularly sensitive and often gated, with their own rules about vehicle access and working hours. We know these squares and will confirm the specific requirements for your address in advance.
Kensington W8 has some of the most stringent parking restrictions in the capital, managed by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Almost the whole area sits inside a controlled parking zone, several of which operate seven days a week, and Kensington High Street is a red route with no stopping at any time — no permit will help you there.
Now the part most removal companies in this borough get wrong, and it is worth reading before you spend anything. RBKC's own published guidance states that you do not have to suspend a parking bay in order to carry out a domestic or office removal. A removal vehicle may stop in any parking bay, or on a single yellow line, provided you can find the space and do not cause an obstruction. The condition is that loading and unloading must be continuous — the moment the van sits idle with nobody working it becomes liable for a Penalty Charge Notice. You are also not permitted to put out cones, barriers or homemade notices to reserve a space. Plenty of W8 moves are completed perfectly legally without a penny spent on suspensions, and we will tell you when yours is one of them.
A suspension buys certainty rather than permission — and on the streets where certainty is worth paying for, it is worth a great deal. If your move is from a five-storey stucco house on Kensington Square or Phillimore Gardens with a full day's load, gambling on a space being free at 8am is a poor bet. RBKC requires a minimum of 10 full working days' notice for a resident parking bay, and only 2 working days for a pay-by-phone bay. Applications must reach RBKC before 3pm to count for that day, and working days exclude weekends and bank holidays. The fee from 1 April 2026 is £82 per space per day for the first five days, rising to £123 a day from day six. There is a short-notice route — a permit-bay application made up to five working days ahead may be accepted at the council's discretion — but it carries a one-off, non-refundable £408 surcharge on top, so the cheap version of this decision is the one you make early.
There is a third instrument people rarely know about: RBKC can grant a single yellow line dispensation, giving permission to load and unload on a single yellow where waiting would otherwise be restricted. For a narrow W8 street with no residents' bays outside the door, that is often more sensible than a full bay suspension. Whichever route applies, the application is made by you as the occupier rather than by us — RBKC issues the suspension against the property address and the vehicle registration, so it has to be in the resident's name. Send us the registration and we will make sure the right van is named on it. We carry out a full parking and access assessment on every Kensington booking and tell you honestly which of the three you need, or that you need none.
Kensington W8 has been inside the expanded Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) since the 2021 inner London expansion, and the August 2023 borough-wide expansion confirmed full ULEZ coverage. Our van is fully ULEZ-compliant — there is no ULEZ surcharge passed on to you. On the Congestion Charge: Kensington W8 is actually outside the London Congestion Charge zone — and by a much wider margin than most people assume. The zone's western boundary is Park Lane and Edgware Road, not the A3220 or Earl's Court Road. That puts the whole of Kensington W8, Notting Hill W11, Chelsea SW3 and South Kensington SW7 comfortably outside it. Kensington was inside briefly — the Western Extension covered the borough from 2007 until it was scrapped in January 2011 — and the boundary has not moved since, which is why the misunderstanding persists. If a removal company adds a Congestion Charge to a move within Kensington, or from Kensington to Chelsea or Notting Hill, question it.
Where the charge does apply — Mayfair, Westminster, the West End, the City, Bloomsbury — it rose to £18 per day on 2 January 2026, its first increase since 2020. Two changes catch people out. It now runs at weekends: 07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday and 12:00–18:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, so a Saturday afternoon move into Mayfair is chargeable while the same job finishing before noon is not. And it is billed per calendar day, so a job running past midnight counts twice. We pass it on at cost with no markup and confirm the position at booking.
Kensington attracts residents who expect a higher standard of service — and that expectation is entirely reasonable given the value of their properties and possessions. Since 2015 we have delivered that standard consistently: smart presentation, quiet and efficient working practices, full protection of all surfaces and furnishings, and complete discretion regarding client identity and move details. We do not discuss client moves with third parties. Our team works methodically and without unnecessary noise or disruption. If you have specific requirements regarding working hours, entry points or the handling of particular items, we accommodate them without question.
Kensington Church Street is one of the densest concentrations of antique dealers anywhere in Europe, and W8 households own accordingly. That changes what a removal actually is here. A gilt-framed mirror, a marquetry cabinet, a longcase clock or a set of dining chairs with original upholstery are not difficult because of weight — they are difficult because the failure mode is irreversible. A scratched flat-pack wardrobe is an annoyance; a chipped veneer on a period piece is a restoration bill.
So we handle these differently as a matter of course. Anything with a finish that matters gets blanket-wrapped before it leaves the room rather than at the van, corners get protected individually, and mirrors and glass travel upright and secured rather than flat. Longcase clocks come apart — hood, movement, weights and pendulum separately — and if yours has not been moved in twenty years we would rather you had a clockmaker detach the movement than have us guess. Marble tops travel on edge, never flat, because flat is how they crack. If you have a piece you are genuinely worried about, tell us at the quote stage and send a photograph; occasionally the right answer is a specialist fine-art shipper rather than us, and we will say so.
For insurance: our standard cover applies to your belongings in transit, but if you own individual items of unusual value it is worth telling us the figure at booking rather than assuming. High-value single items sometimes need to be declared separately, and the time to establish that is before the item is on the van, not after. We would rather have an awkward conversation at the quote than an impossible one afterwards.
W8 divides into three quite different jobs. The stucco terraces around Kensington Square, Phillimore Gardens, Campden Hill and the streets off Church Street are tall and narrow — five storeys with a staircase that turns at every half-landing and often a lower-ground entrance as well as a raised front door. The constraint is the turn, not the flight, and on a house that height the same wardrobe has to negotiate it four times. These are full-day jobs and we quote them that way; if someone has quoted you three hours for a five-storey Kensington house, they have not seen it.
The mansion blocks — the red-brick Victorian and Edwardian blocks off Kensington High Street and around Earl's Court Road — run formal move-in procedures rather than informal ones. Expect a porter, a Certificate of Insurance naming the building before anyone gets past reception, a service lift booked into a named slot, and a move window that closes whether you have finished or not. We send COI documentation as standard rather than on request, because a porter refusing entry at 8am costs the whole morning and there is no arguing past it. A porter refusing entry at 8am costs the whole morning and there is no arguing past it, so we sort this before the day, not on it. Give us the managing agent's details about a week ahead and Silvester handles the correspondence.
The garden square properties add one wrinkle worth knowing: the communal gardens are private and generally not a route or a staging area, so anything you might imagine carrying across the grass goes round the pavement instead. That can add a genuinely long carry, and it is the sort of thing that changes a quote. Several W8 squares also have controlled or gated vehicle access with their own rules, separate from RBKC's. Tell us the square when you book and we will check rather than assume.
For a whole-house move rather than a van and a couple of hours, see house removals London; packing services covers labour and materials, and is worth serious consideration in W8 given what is being packed. Where completion dates do not line up we can hold a load and storage in London covers longer gaps. Pianos are common in the Kensington houses and are quoted separately on our piano movers page. Business moves along Kensington High Street are on our office removals page.
We are a small, owner-operated company which means the people who take your call are the people who arrive at your door. We are fully insured for high-value domestic moves and cover all W8 postcodes as well as surrounding premium areas. Whether you need a full house removal, a man and van service, an office relocation, specialist piano moving, or full packing services, the same standard of care applies.
We regularly serve all surrounding areas including Notting Hill W11, Hammersmith W6, Fulham SW6, Chiswick W4 and Shepherd's Bush W12.
