Looking for a man with a van in Notting Hill? London Moverz charges £50/hr for 1 man and van and £65/hr for 2 men and van, minimum 2 hours. W11 is one of the most demanding areas we serve — stucco townhouses on the Ladbroke Estate, hidden mews behind Pembridge, Portobello-side flats. Notting Hill is outside the Congestion Charge zone, and RBKC's own guidance says a domestic removal needs no parking suspension at all. Fully insured, 7 days a week.

Common Questions

FAQs — Man and Van Notting Hill

The Notting Hill Carnival on the August bank holiday weekend causes significant road closures across W10, W11 and surrounding areas. We do not carry out moves during the Carnival weekend itself as access is impossible for vans in most of Notting Hill. If you are planning a move around the bank holiday, please book for the days immediately before or after the weekend.

Yes, Portobello Road and the surrounding streets are a regular part of our work. The colourful terraces are predominantly residential above the market stalls, and access for removal vans can be arranged on non-market days. On Saturdays when the market is running, access along Portobello Road itself is restricted.

Notting Hill has extensive controlled parking zones and high demand, but worth knowing before you spend: RBKC's own guidance says you do not have to suspend a bay for a domestic removal — you may use any bay or a single yellow line provided loading stays continuous and causes no obstruction. A suspension buys certainty rather than permission. If you want one, RBKC needs a minimum of 10 full working days' notice for a resident bay, or 2 working days for a pay-by-phone bay, at £82 per space per day. Applications must be in before 3pm to count for that day. You apply as the occupier, since RBKC issues it against your address and vehicle registration — send us the reg and we will name the right van. Book at least two weeks ahead if your property is on a restricted road.

Yes, Notting Hill has some of London's most charming mews properties and garden apartments. Mews moves have specific challenges — the narrow cobbled lanes often do not allow full-size vans, so we use appropriately sized vehicles and sometimes carry items a short distance to the van. We always assess access in advance.

Yes, our Notting Hill service covers all of W11 including Ladbroke Grove, Westbourne Grove, All Saints Road, Pembridge Road and the surrounding streets. We also cover the borders with Bayswater W2, Holland Park W14 and Shepherd's Bush W12 at our standard rates.

Notting Hill W11 is inside the expanded ULEZ zone (since 2021), but our van is fully ULEZ-compliant — no ULEZ surcharge is passed on to you. Notting Hill W11 is actually outside the London Congestion Charge zone — the CC zone's western boundary runs along Edgware Road, and W11 sits well to the west of it. Moves within Notting Hill and to surrounding areas like Holland Park, Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush will not incur any congestion charge. If your move travels east into the zone, the charge is £18 per day as of 2 January 2026, and it now runs at weekends too: 07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday and 12:00–18:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. It is passed on at cost with no markup, and we confirm the position for your address at booking.

Yes — grand piano moves from Notting Hill townhouses are a regular part of our work. The wide staircases of the Ladbroke Estate townhouses are among the more forgiving in London for piano moves, but the instruments are still extremely heavy and require specialist boards, straps and a minimum of two experienced movers. Please mention your piano at the time of booking so we can ensure the right team and equipment are allocated.

Yes — many premium apartment buildings and mansion blocks in Notting Hill require a Certificate of Insurance from the removal company before permitting access. We provide COI documentation as standard. Let us know at the time of booking that your building requires it and we will arrange the paperwork in time for your move date.

We recommend at least two to three weeks for Notting Hill moves — this allows time for the RBKC parking suspension (minimum 10 full working days), COI documentation if required, and securing the right team and vehicle for your property type. Weekend and month-end slots fill quickly. If you are moving around the August bank holiday, book even earlier and avoid Carnival weekend entirely — we will not be able to operate in the area on those days.

London Moverz charges from £50/hr for 1 man + van and £65/hr for 2 men + van in Notting Hill W11. Minimum booking is 2 hours. No hidden charges.

Yes — we cover Portobello Road, Ladbroke Grove, Holland Park and all W11 postcodes, as well as all other London boroughs and long-distance UK moves.

Most local moves in Notting Hill are completed in 2–4 hours. We operate 7 days a week, 7AM–9PM, and can often accommodate same-day or next-day bookings.

Yes. London Moverz carries £2 million public liability cover and £25,000 goods in transit insurance. Every move in Notting Hill and across London is covered from the moment we start loading until the last item is placed at your new address. Certificate of Insurance documentation is available for buildings that require it — just tell us when you book.

You can book online, call us on 07897 383022, or WhatsApp us. We confirm availability within the hour.

We do both, with the same team. A man and van in Notting Hill is the right choice for a studio, a single room, a few items of furniture or a part-load — one man and a van at £50/hr, or two men at £65/hr, minimum two hours. Full house removals Notting Hill W11 is the same service scaled up: two men, a full pack-and-load, furniture dismantling and reassembly, and protection for floors and doorways. Most stucco-fronted houses, garden-square flats and mews conversions need the two-man option once you are past a one-bedroom flat, simply because of stair carries and the size of the furniture. We do not subcontract either service — the people who quote your Notting Hill removal are the people who turn up. If you are not sure which you need, send a photo or a room list and we will tell you honestly, including if the smaller option is enough. Parking suspensions in Notting Hill go through Kensington & Chelsea Council, and we will tell you exactly what to apply for.

About Our Service

Notting Hill Removals & Man and Van — Local Experts Since 2015

London Moverz has been serving Notting Hill and West London since 2015. Based in Chiswick W4, we reach Notting Hill W11 via the A4 and Hammersmith — typically 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. Over nearly a decade we have built genuine experience across Notting Hill's extraordinary variety of property types: the grand stucco-fronted townhouses of the Ladbroke Estate, the colourful Victorian terraces of Portobello Road, the hidden cobbled mews behind Pembridge Road, and the garden apartments and maisonettes tucked behind the area's iconic facades. Notting Hill is one of the most demanding and rewarding areas we work in — and we meet its standard every time.

The Ladbroke Estate — Grand Townhouses and Shared Gardens

The Ladbroke Estate — the grid of wide, tree-lined streets between Holland Park Avenue and Ladbroke Grove, centred on the communal garden squares — is one of the finest pieces of Victorian town planning in London. The stucco townhouses on Ladbroke Road, Ladbroke Grove, Stanley Crescent and Kensington Park Road are typically four to five storeys, wide-fronted and beautifully proportioned. Moving from these properties requires handling substantial quantities of furniture across multiple floors, often including antiques, oil paintings and grand pianos. We send a minimum of two experienced movers for Ladbroke Estate jobs and bring full wrapping materials and specialist equipment as standard. The communal garden squares are private and gated — we always confirm vehicle access and working hour restrictions for the specific square before move day.

Further north along Ladbroke Grove, the character changes considerably. The streets around the Westway — Bramley Road, Oxford Gardens, Barlby Road — have a more urban, mixed character with a higher proportion of conversion flats and housing association properties. These moves are typically more straightforward in terms of property access, though the roads here are busier and parking requires more careful planning. We know this part of W10/W11 well and handle it with the same thoroughness as the more prestigious streets to the south.

Portobello Road and the Market Streets

Portobello Road is one of London's most famous streets — and one of its most logistically complex for removals. The market runs on Fridays and Saturdays, when the road becomes impassable for vehicles from mid-morning. The antique market at the southern end (near Notting Hill Gate) runs on Saturdays only; the fruit and veg section runs daily. We always plan Portobello Road moves for weekday mornings — before the market traders begin setting up. For the residential properties above and behind the market stalls, access is genuinely excellent on non-market days, and the colourful Victorian terraces are structurally straightforward with good room proportions.

Mews Properties — Our Specialist Knowledge

Notting Hill has more mews properties than almost any other area of London — the cobbled lanes behind the main streets conceal some of the most sought-after addresses in W11. Moving from a mews house presents specific challenges: the lanes themselves are often too narrow for a Luton van, and even a transit must be carefully positioned at the mews entrance with items carried along the lane. We always use our smaller transit vehicles for mews jobs and send a three-person team where the carry distance is significant. We assess every mews address individually when you book — please tell us the mews name so we can plan accordingly.

The Notting Hill Carnival — What It Means for Your Move

The Notting Hill Carnival takes place on the August bank holiday weekend — the Sunday and Monday — and is Europe's largest street festival. In 2026 the bank holiday falls on Monday 31 August, so Carnival weekend is Sunday 30 and Monday 31 August. Road closures extend across a wide area of W10, W11 and beyond, and vehicle access to most of Notting Hill is impossible for the duration. We do not carry out moves during Carnival weekend. If you are planning a move around the bank holiday, book for the Thursday or Friday before, or the Tuesday after — and avoid the Saturday of that weekend too, when the area begins filling with preparations. We flag the Carnival dates proactively for any booking in late August.

Parking, ULEZ & Congestion Charge in Notting Hill

Notting Hill W11 sits within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea's controlled parking zone, which operates seven days a week across most streets. Before you spend anything on a permit, though, it is worth knowing what RBKC actually requires — and most removal companies in this borough get it wrong. RBKC's published guidance states that you do not have to suspend a parking bay in order to carry out a domestic or office removal. A removal vehicle may stop in any parking bay, or on a single yellow line, provided you can find the space and cause no obstruction, so long as loading and unloading stays continuous. Cones, barriers and homemade notices to reserve a space are not permitted. Plenty of W11 moves are completed perfectly legally without a penny spent on suspensions.

A suspension buys certainty rather than permission, and on the Ladbroke Estate townhouses — where a full day's load and a long carry to the kerb are normal — that certainty is often worth paying for. RBKC requires a minimum of 10 full working days' notice for a resident parking bay, and 2 working days for a pay-by-phone bay. Applications must reach RBKC before 3pm to count for that day, and working days exclude weekends and bank holidays. The fee from 1 April 2026 is £82 per space per day for the first five days, rising to £123 from day six. A short-notice permit-bay application made up to five working days ahead may be accepted at the council's discretion, but it carries a one-off, non-refundable £408 surcharge — so the cheap version of this decision is the early one. There is also a single yellow line dispensation, often the better instrument on a narrow mews or a street with no residents' bays outside the door.

The application is made by you as the occupier, not by us. RBKC issues the suspension against the property address and the vehicle registration, so it has to be in the resident's name — send us the registration when you book and we will make sure the right van is named on it. We carry out a full parking assessment on every Notting Hill booking and tell you honestly which instrument you need, or that you need none. On emissions: Notting Hill W11 is inside the expanded ULEZ (since 2021), but our van is fully ULEZ-compliant — no surcharge is passed on. On the Congestion Charge: Notting Hill is actually outside the CC zone — the western boundary runs along Edgware Road, well to the east of W11. The charge is £18 per day as of 2 January 2026, its first rise since 2020, and only applies if your move travels east into the zone. Note it now runs at weekends as well — 07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday and 12:00–18:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays — and is billed per calendar day, so a job past midnight counts twice. Passed on at cost with no markup.

Market Days — The Weekly Version of the Carnival Problem

Carnival is two days a year. The markets are every week, and they cost more people more time because nobody plans around them. Portobello Road runs a general market through the week and the big antiques market on Saturdays, when the road and much of the surrounding grid become effectively impassable to a Luton from early morning until late afternoon. Golborne Road at the north end has its own busiest days. If your address is on or immediately off Portobello, a Saturday move is not a slightly slower move — it is a different job, and we would rather move the date than the van.

What we actually do about it. For any W11 address within the market grid, we push for a weekday, and if the date is fixed we start at 7am and aim to be loaded before the stalls are fully set. Where the frontage is unreachable, we load from the nearest cross street and take the longer carry deliberately rather than discovering it — that is a decision made at the quote stage, and it is why we ask for the exact address before giving a duration rather than after. Tell us the street when you enquire and we will tell you which day of the week your move should happen on.

Communal Gardens, Stucco and the Long Carry

The Ladbroke Estate garden squares are the defining feature of Notting Hill and the single most misunderstood thing about moving here. The communal gardens are private, gated and — this is the part that catches people — generally not a route or a staging area. Anything you might picture carrying across the grass goes round the pavement instead, which on a large square can add a genuinely long walk to every single item. On a five-storey stucco house with a garden-square frontage, the carry can be the largest component of the job.

So we quote these on distance rather than volume, and we tell you the distance before you book rather than after. Several squares also have their own access rules and gated vehicle entrances, administered by the garden committee rather than by RBKC — those are separate permissions and worth asking your managing agent about a week ahead. If your square has a service entrance or a rear access lane, that changes the job substantially in your favour and is the first thing worth mentioning when you enquire.

The houses themselves are tall and narrow: five storeys, a staircase that turns at every half-landing, a raised front door with steps and often a lower-ground entrance as well. The constraint is the turn rather than the flight, and the same wardrobe negotiates it four times. These are full-day jobs and we quote them that way — if someone has quoted you three hours for a five-storey Ladbroke Estate house, they have not looked at it. Much of the estate is listed or in the conservation area, so door frames stay on and nothing rests against original plasterwork; we bring floor protection and corner guards as standard rather than on request.

For a whole-house move rather than a van and a couple of hours, see house removals London; packing services covers labour and materials and is worth serious thought here, because a long carry makes well-packed boxes matter more than usual. Where completion dates do not line up we can hold a load and storage in London covers longer gaps. Pianos are common in the Ladbroke Estate houses and are quoted separately on our piano movers page. Business moves along Westbourne Grove and Notting Hill Gate are on our office removals page.
