Common Questions
Removal vans are not permitted through Richmond Park. However, the park boundaries are well-served by residential roads on all sides, and we use the external routes to access properties near the park gates efficiently. We know all the access roads surrounding Richmond Park and plan routes accordingly.
Yes, the prestigious properties on Richmond Hill are among our most sought-after jobs in South West London. Access to Richmond Hill requires careful planning as the roads are steep and some properties have restricted frontage. We always assess access in advance and use appropriate vehicle sizes for the approach.
Yes, our Richmond service covers all of TW9 including Kew TW9, Petersham TW10, North Sheen TW9 and Richmond town centre. We also cover East Sheen SW14 and the borders with Barnes SW13. All these areas are served at our standard rates.
Yes, Richmond town centre has extensive parking restrictions and is very busy, particularly at weekends. For moves near the town centre and station, a parking suspension from Richmond Council is usually needed — Richmond Council requires a minimum of 10 working days' notice before you can apply, and it is worth knowing the cost before you decide, because Richmond is the most expensive borough we work in for this. Every suspension carries a standard administration fee of £150.10 on top of a per-day bay charge that varies with the CPZ. The same single bay for one day costs about £39 in Ealing, £65 in Hounslow and £82 in Kensington and Chelsea. Given that floor, the first question for a Richmond address is whether you need one at all — the quieter residential streets in Petersham and North Sheen are generally accessible without one, particularly before 9am. Where you do not need a specific bay reserved, Richmond's dispensation is the cheaper instrument and needs seven working days rather than ten. The application is made by you as the occupier, since Richmond issues it against the property address and vehicle registration — send us the reg and we will make sure the correct van is named.
Yes, we carry out long-distance moves from Richmond to all parts of the UK. For moves beyond London, we provide a fixed-price quote rather than hourly billing. Call us to discuss your long-distance move requirements and we will prepare a competitive quote tailored to your specific needs.
Richmond TW9 is inside the expanded ULEZ zone (since August 2023), but our van is fully ULEZ-compliant — no ULEZ surcharge is passed on to you. Richmond is well outside the London Congestion Charge zone. Moves within Richmond and to surrounding areas like Kew, Barnes, Twickenham and Putney will not incur any charge. If your move travels into the zone — Westminster, the West End, the City or Bloomsbury — the charge is £18 per day as of 2 January 2026, and it now runs at weekends too: 07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday, 12:00–18:00 Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. Kensington and Chelsea are outside the zone despite feeling central. It is passed on at cost with no markup, and the vast majority of Richmond moves involve no charge at all.
Yes — Petersham is one of the most access-restricted areas we serve, with narrow lanes, historic properties and limited turning space. We always use our medium transit van for Petersham addresses rather than the Luton, and carry out an individual access assessment before every Petersham booking. Please let us know the exact address when you enquire so we can confirm the right vehicle and plan the access route in advance.
Yes — the view from Richmond Hill across the Thames is protected by the Richmond, Petersham and Ham Open Spaces Act 1902, making it the only view in England legally protected by Parliament. Properties on The Terrace and the surrounding streets that enjoy this view are among the most prestigious in South West London. We have moved from several of these addresses and understand the care required — narrow approaches, period features, high-value contents and the expectation of a discreet, professional service.
Yes — East Sheen SW14 and Mortlake SW14 are both fully within our Richmond service area and covered at our standard rates. East Sheen has a particularly pleasant high street and good-sized family homes; Mortlake is known for its riverside position and the finish line of the Boat Race. Both areas have good road access and are very manageable for removal vans. No extra charges apply for either area.
£50/hr for 1 man + van and £65/hr for 2 men + van, minimum 2 hours — £110 and £130 — then £32.50 per additional 30 minutes. Richmond is around 20 minutes from our Chiswick base and there is no travel surcharge. Any Richmond Council suspension cost is passed on at cost, never marked up.
Yes. London Moverz carries £2 million public liability cover and £25,000 goods in transit insurance, so your belongings are covered from the moment we start loading until the last item is placed at your new address. Certificate of Insurance documentation is available for buildings that require it — tell us which building when you book and we will send it to the managing agent ahead of the day.
Two to three weeks if your street needs a bay suspension, because Richmond requires at least 10 working days' notice and charges a £150.10 administration fee on top of the per-bay daily rate. For streets where parking is manageable, 2 to 3 days is usually plenty — we tell you which case you are in when we quote.
Yes, and they need planning. The houses around the Green are largely listed, with narrow original staircases, tight half-landings and doorways that were not built for modern sofas. We measure at the quote stage where we can, bring shoulder straps and door protection as standard, and allow more time than the volume alone would suggest. Where an item genuinely will not turn on the stair, we say so before the day rather than discovering it on it.
Yes, 7 days a week from 7am to 9pm, at the same hourly rate with no weekend premium. Saturdays around Richmond town centre get busy from mid-morning and parking near the Green and the riverside fills fast, so an early start is worth having. Sunday mornings are the easiest slot in the area by some margin.
Call or WhatsApp 07897 383022, or use the booking form. We confirm availability within the hour, every day from 7am to 9pm. Have both addresses, the floor and access at each end, a rough idea of volume and your preferred date ready and we can usually quote immediately.
We do both, with the same team. A man and van in Richmond is the right choice for a studio, a single room, a few items of furniture or a part-load — one man and a van at £50/hr, or two men at £65/hr, minimum two hours. Full house removals Richmond TW9 is the same service scaled up: two men, a full pack-and-load, furniture dismantling and reassembly, and protection for floors and doorways. Most listed Georgian houses, Richmond Hill properties and Petersham homes need the two-man option once you are past a one-bedroom flat, simply because of stair carries and the size of the furniture. We do not subcontract either service — the people who quote your Richmond removal are the people who turn up. If you are not sure which you need, send a photo or a room list and we will tell you honestly, including if the smaller option is enough. Parking suspensions in Richmond go through Richmond Council, and we will tell you exactly what to apply for.
For weekend moves in Richmond, we recommend booking at least one week in advance as demand is high — particularly at month end when tenancy agreements change over. For weekday moves, 2-3 days notice is usually sufficient. Same-day bookings are accepted when availability allows.
Yes, we operate from 7AM to 9PM, 7 days a week. Early morning starts are popular in Richmond for customers who want to beat the traffic around the town centre and Richmond Bridge. Evening slots are also available for office moves that need to happen outside business hours. Just let us know your preferred time when booking.
Most local moves in Richmond are completed in 2–4 hours. We operate 7 days a week, 7AM–9PM, and can often accommodate same-day or next-day bookings.

About Our Service
London Moverz has been serving Richmond and South West London since 2015. Based in Chiswick W4, we reach Richmond TW9 via Kew Bridge and the A316 — typically a 20 to 25 minute journey. Over nearly a decade we have carried out hundreds of moves across Richmond: from the prestigious hilltop properties of Richmond Hill, to the Georgian and Victorian streets of the town centre, to the riverside apartments along the Thames, to the peaceful cottages of Petersham. Richmond is one of the most beautiful and most demanding areas we serve — and we bring both the knowledge and the care it requires.
The properties on Richmond Hill — particularly those on The Terrace, Friars Stile Road and the roads backing onto the ridge overlooking the Thames — are among the most prestigious in South West London. The view from Richmond Hill is the only view in England protected by an Act of Parliament, and the properties that enjoy it command prices to match. Moving from these addresses requires careful planning: the hill itself is steep, some properties have narrow frontages approached via service lanes, and access for larger vans must be assessed in advance. We always use our most experienced drivers for Richmond Hill jobs and plan the route meticulously before move day.
Richmond Park — at 2,500 acres the largest Royal Park in London — sits at the heart of the TW10 postcode and creates a significant routing constraint for all road traffic in the area. Removal vans are not permitted through the park. Properties on the park's edge — along Queen's Road, Sheen Lane, Kingston Vale and the roads near the various park gates — must be approached via the external road network, which can add significant distance and time compared to what a map suggests. Our drivers know every route around the park and always plan the most efficient approach for your specific address. This local knowledge is one of the most practical things we bring to a Richmond move.
Petersham TW10, nestled between Richmond Hill and the Thames, is one of the most exclusive and atmospheric pockets of residential London. The lanes here — Petersham Road, River Lane and the meadow paths — are genuinely narrow, and the historic properties range from Georgian farmhouses to Victorian villas with restricted vehicle access. We carry out Petersham moves regularly and always use our medium transit van rather than the Luton for these addresses. Every Petersham booking gets an individual access assessment before move day.
The town centre around Richmond station — George Street, Hill Street, the riverside — has extensive controlled parking and is busy throughout the week. Suspensions from Richmond Council are required for most moves in this area, with a minimum of 10 working days' notice required. Please book at least two weeks ahead if your property is in the town centre or on a restricted road. North Sheen, to the north along the Lower Richmond Road and the streets between the railway and the river, has a more straightforward residential character — good-sized Victorian and Edwardian houses with reasonable access and parking. East Sheen SW14, on the boundary with Mortlake, is similarly accessible and we cover it as part of our standard Richmond service.
Richmond TW9 and TW10 fall within the expanded Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), which has covered all London boroughs since August 2023. Our van is fully ULEZ-compliant — there is no ULEZ surcharge passed on to you. Richmond is also well outside the London Congestion Charge zone. Moves within Richmond and to surrounding areas — Kew, Barnes, Twickenham, East Sheen, Putney — will not incur any congestion charge. If your move requires travel into the Congestion Charge zone — Westminster, the West End, the City, Bloomsbury or Elephant and Castle — the charge is £18 per day as of 2 January 2026, its first rise since 2020. It now applies at weekends as well (07:00–18:00 Monday to Friday, 12:00–18:00 Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays), and is billed per calendar day, so a job running past midnight counts twice. Worth knowing that Kensington, Chelsea and Notting Hill are not in the zone despite feeling central — the Western Extension covering them was scrapped in 2011. We pass it on at cost with no markup, and for almost all Richmond moves no charges apply.
Richmond has one of the highest concentrations of listed and conservation-area housing anywhere we work. The Georgian terraces on Richmond Hill, the houses facing Richmond Green, Maids of Honour Row and much of the Petersham Road frontage are protected, and that changes the mechanics of a move rather than just its tone. Original door frames stay on their hinges — there is no taking one off to gain two inches. Nothing rests against original plasterwork, panelling or a hand-rail that has been there since the eighteenth century. Original floors and stone thresholds get covered before anything crosses them, not after the first scuff.
We bring floor protection, corner guards and doorway padding as standard on Richmond jobs rather than on request, and we plan the order of the load around the fact that we cannot widen anything. What that means practically is that the measurement deciding your move is the narrowest fixed point on the route — usually a half-landing turn or a front-door reveal — and it cannot be negotiated. Send us photographs of the staircase and the front door when you book. On a listed house, establishing beforehand that a wardrobe will not go is far better than discovering it with the clock running, because the alternative options — dismantling, or occasionally a window lift — need planning rather than improvising.
One further Richmond-specific point: several of the Hill and Green properties have their frontage on a protected view or a narrow pavement with no loading provision at all, which is exactly the situation where Richmond's £150.10 suspension fee starts to look worth it. It is also the situation where a dispensation may serve better, since you need permission to load rather than a specific bay reserved. We will tell you which applies to your address before you spend anything.
Richmond town centre is genuinely difficult for a large vehicle and it is worth being honest about why. The street pattern around George Street, Hill Street and the Quadrant is a constrained one-way system that carries heavy bus traffic, and the pedestrianised and semi-pedestrianised stretches mean the frontage of a shop or a flat above one is frequently not the loading point at all. For town centre flats we load from the nearest accessible side street and take the longer carry deliberately — a decision made at the quote stage, which is why we ask for the exact address before giving a duration.
Weekends are the hardest time to move in central Richmond, not the easiest. The town is a destination in its own right and the riverside fills from late morning in good weather, so a Saturday afternoon move near the Bridge or the Riverside is materially slower than a weekday one. We push for early starts here more firmly than almost anywhere: before 8am the town centre is workable, and after 10am on a fine Saturday it is not.
If your property is on the riverside itself — Water Lane, Friars Lane, the Bridge Street frontage — the Thames here is tidal and the low-lying stretches do flood on high spring tides. It is not dramatic and it is entirely predictable, but if the water is across the road the twenty metres between your door and the van is the part that matters. We check tide times when confirming a riverside date, the same way we check Richmond Park's gate closures for a Petersham job. Tides shift by roughly an hour a day, so a clash is a scheduling problem rather than a reason to move the date.
For a full house rather than a van and a couple of hours, see house removals London, and packing services — worth real consideration on the Hill and Petersham properties, where a longer carry makes well-packed boxes matter more than usual. Where completion dates do not line up we can hold a load and storage in London covers the longer gaps. Pianos are common in the Richmond Hill and Green houses and are quoted separately on our piano movers page. Business moves around George Street and the station are on our office removals page.
Richmond attracts discerning residents who expect a high standard — and that is what we deliver. Since 2015, owner-operated, fully insured and deeply familiar with every corner of TW9 and TW10. Whether you need a full house removal, a man and van service, or an office relocation, the same experienced team takes your call and arrives at your door.
We regularly serve all surrounding areas including Kew TW9, Barnes SW13, Twickenham TW1, Putney SW15 and Isleworth TW7.
